Why can't we all just get along?

Today has been...well, exhausting. Not like I did a bunch of work or anything, but there was so much shit going on personally that I had my head spinning from lunchtime on.

Part of today's drama involved an internet group of working moms that I've been a member of for almost five years. We all met on BabyCenter and split off into our own private group. Over the years, the numbers have dwindled a little and my own participation has also gone way down due to the stupid IT filtering at work. Apparently I can't look at anything with any questionable language in it whatsoever, including the words "shit" or "bite". Which makes no sense because some of my favorite blogs are the filthiest things ever that I read regularly when I should be doing other things like invoices. Ahem.

Anyhow, today there was an incident which caused two longtime members to leave the board. One of the two caused me a lot more concern, as she is a close friend and I hate to see her go. I'm not going to go into details about what happened, but all I can say is that it's a damn shame that the members of the board can't seem to post freely about their lives anymore without being attacked or judged. Said friend, who had a big life change a few years ago, was targeted several times rather unfairly for her choice by people who really had no freaking clue about her real circumstances.

So there's that.

To add to this drama, I've been planning a little Girls' Night Out for next Thursday and it seems to be horribly imploding right in front of my eyes. Why is it that when you try to get a group of women together, there's all this "you're not going to invite her, are you?" or "I'm only coming if she is invited too?" After multiple e-mails back and forth with the Queen Bee (whose stupid idea this all was yet now she refuses to play nice and better get ready for a big dose of Builder Mama whoop ass), I've decided that I'm inviting whoever the fuck I want to and if she wants to participate, that's fine. And if not, that's fine too. I'm voting her ass off the island at the next tribal council.

It's exhausting. And I'm coming down with a cold, which just exacerbates everything since my head feels like it is splitting into sections like an orange. I am going to see my old doctor tomorrow, though, and can hardly wait. He's one of those doctors that always makes me feel fabulous by loading on the compliments. Of course, I'm probably the only patient of his under the age of 75 so I'm the only eye candy the poor guy has (and that's not saying much).

Oh, and we survived the Most Boring Christmas Party in the Universe tonight and it was only remotely as bad as it was last year. At least no one broke a hip on the dance floor.

Your mommy board sounds a lot like the one to which I belong. We met on epregnancy and then formed our own little group. But, alas, everbody's participation has really slacked off and there have been several members just up and leave. Mainly, I think it's because people feel that they can type things that they would never say to a person's face and also because of what Mitzi said...women are bitches.

I am so sorry something has caused anyone to leave. Each and every person on that board is wonderful and I wonder how each person is doing.

Unfortunately, I need to limit myself, so it is off-limits to me, peronally.

Hola. As it happens my wife is one of your mommy board members (HZG) Sorry that there is a lack of harmony. I don't know that I have ever heard a negative comment, 'course I'm a guy and have the attention span of a.
She has sent me your links in the past, and I find you quite entertaining. She left your page up tonight and when I asked her if the 'mommy' group was hers she said yes. She also told me to read the bra post, cause ya know, it talks about boobs.
