I'm ready for the ark now

It's been pouring rain here for two days and I've had enough. Of course, I've had about a million errands to run and a party that I went to last night and have remained waterlogged for the duration. Today I just threw up my hands and broke out the baseball hat. What's the point in fussing over your hair when it's only going to be blown right off of your head?

Last night's "toy" party was a lot of fun even though our neighborhood lost power twice. The nice thing was that one of the attendees called her husband (they live right next door) and he promptly brought over a generator. Honestly, I think it wasn't as chivalrous as it was hoping she was going to bring home the PleasureVibe 2000. I'm not sure what she bought since I made my little purchase and hightailed it out the door since I'd already been there for three hours. One more glass of wine and I probably couldn't have made it home without leveling a few mailboxes on my way.

The other issue is that Monkey Man is sick with some kind of mysterious virus. The doctor thinks it's either a generic type of virus (sore throat, achy stomach, and an odd rash on his stomach), or perhaps Hand, Foot & Mouth disease. This would be Monkey Man's third foray into HF&M if it is indeed what it is, and at this point he's a medical mystery because allegedly you're only supposed to catch this stuff once in a lifetime. Yeah, right. Anyhow, after my last two experiences I feel fairly qualified to state that it seems to really be the Generic Virus since he's not running the typical high fever...as a matter of fact, he's had no fever at all. But we still kept him home from his best friend's birthday party today so we don't end up infecting the entire class with Mystery Generic Virus Du Jour. You can thank us later.

The odd thing is that now I'm not feeling so hot either. Scratchy throat, a little sinus drainage, and just feeling tired. I'm hoping a nice, hot dinner and a good night's sleep will help me feel more like shaking my tailfeather tomorrow. I'm thinking spaghetti tonight since we haven't had that in a long time, but of course it's only 5:30, the boys just ate chocolate chip cookies, and we could end up eating sandwiches. I'm voting to stay home, if for no other reason than I'm sick of being soaked from the hips down.

So it's rainy, we're all feeling kind of punky, and we have no plans for the rest of the weekend. Well, no plans other than making pancakes in the morning, special request of Monkey Man. And perhaps a little internet browsing/shopping to see if I can find anything decent to wear, because after reading In Style this week I am horrified to discover that there is absolutely nothing out there that looks even remotely attractive on my body type. Slim leg pants with my muscular legs? Leggings? Just say it, ladies....hell to the no.
